Go to a hospital emergency department or call 911 if you have facial swelling that is spreading toward your eye or neck, trouble breathing or swallowing, a high fever with swelling, bleeding that will not stop, or an injury to your jaw or head. Hospitals can manage pain, infection and injuries, but they usually cannot repair the tooth itself, so you will still need to see a dentist.

In general, OHIP does not cover treatment at a dental office. Private dental insurance and the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) may cover emergency exams and treatment, depending on your plan. We direct bill most major insurers, accept CDCP, and explain costs before any treatment begins.

Yes, we accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). What CDCP covers depends on the service and your eligibility, so bring your CDCP details and we will confirm your coverage with you before treatment.

No. We are accepting new patients, including people who need urgent care. Call 613-828-3129 or send a request on this page.

Pick the tooth up by the crown (the white part), not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly with milk or water without scrubbing. If you can, gently put it back in its socket and bite on a clean cloth. If not, keep it in a cup of milk or inside your cheek, and see a dentist right away, ideally within 30 to 60 minutes. Do not try to re-insert a baby tooth.

Many people use over-the-counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen (Advil) or acetaminophen (Tylenol) for short-term relief. Follow the package directions, and check with a pharmacist if you take other medications or have health conditions. Never put a pill directly on your gum, as it can burn the tissue. Pain relievers do not treat the cause, so book a dental visit.

The cost depends on what you need. Your visit starts with an emergency exam, usually with an X-ray, so the dentist can find the cause. We explain the findings, your options and the costs before any treatment begins, and we direct bill your insurance where possible.
